Masbateña tops Fisheries licensure exam
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — A Masbateña topped the Licensure Examination for Fisheries Professionals conducted by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) this month.
Jonalyn Maestrado Dalanon, a native of Barangay Cawayan Interior, Masbate City, emerged as the Top 1 passer with a rating of 91.25 percent.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries from Cebu Technological University–Carmen Campus.
As a daugther of a fisherman, Dalanon was also a scholar of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and a recipient of Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) 4Ps support program.
In her message, she expressed gratitude to the BFAR and DSWD, saying that their programs were a huge help in achieving her dreams. “Because I was a 4Ps beneficiary, my parents were able to support my education from elementary to high school,” she shared. “May God bless the DSWD. I hope you continue to help underprivileged but hardworking children who have big dreams.”
The DSWD Regional Office V led by Regional Director Norman S. Laurio, also a Masbateño, lauded Dalanon’s success, describing her achievement as a beacon of hope and inspiration for Filipino youth from humble beginnings.
From the fishing villages of Masbate to national recognition, Dalanon’s journey stands as proof that perseverance, faith, and support from programs like 4Ps can transform lives. – Jay Legaspi Alfaro | Pilipinas Ganap News Update
